Scouts: How Will You Wear Yours?

Here are some suggestions about some of the activities your group could do that fit into existing programmes. Alternatively, you could come up with something totally new!

Beavers

  • The Friendship Challenge:
    – Take part in an activity to help the community
    – Raise funds for a good cause
  • The Creative Challenge:
    – Act or mime a simple scene
    – Learn a new song and sing it
    – Make a model
    – Make an instrument
  • Cooking section:
    – Make cakes or decorate biscuits (all these can be carried out incorporating a Scottish theme)

Cub Scouts

  • The Creative Challenge:
    – Create something using IT skills such as invites to a Kilts for Kids event
    – Create and perform a musical performance, play or sketch – relating to Scotland, St Andrew or CHILDREN 1ST
  • The Global Challenge:
    – Find out about a global issue such as child poverty and what you can do to prevent it in both Scotland and countries around the world
  • Community Challenge:
    – Organise a fundraising event for CHILDREN 1ST

Scouts

  • The Creative Challenge:
    – Perform a play, write a song or make crafts based on Kilts for Kids or CHILDREN 1ST
  • The Global Challenge:
    – International issues: investigate child poverty in countries across the world and compare to child poverty in Scotland
  • The Community Challenge:
    – Exploring the local community: find out about your nearest CHILDREN 1ST service and do something to raise awareness about it
    – Community service: organise a fundraising event for CHILDREN 1ST and invite your local community
