Become a volunteer
Volunteers make a massive difference to the work of our charity. Our volunteers help us to achieve so much more than would be possible without them.
From working directly with children, young people, and families, to supporting our fundraising efforts, by becoming a volunteer you can help CHILDREN 1ST build a brighter future for Scotland’s vulnerable children and families. Volunteering offers opportunities to try new things, gain skills, and to widen your horizons. You might be looking for a change in career and need some experience, or just want to try something different.
During the past year, a total of 1,337 volunteers in a variety of roles contributed an incredible 96,657 hours. Of these 1,337 volunteers, 61% are volunteering in our services, undertaking roles such as advocates, befrienders, call-takers, counsellors, drivers and group workers; 33% of our volunteers are based in our fundraising areas/departments and their roles include action group members, admin volunteers, can collectors, events volunteers and researchers; 1% of our volunteers are in specialist volunteer roles such as policy volunteers, graphic designers, media volunteers. The remaining 1% of our volunteers are Board members, who give their time to governing the organisation, as well as getting involved in various development work that the organisation is undertaking.
No matter what role you have with us, we will make sure you have all the training and support you need to get the most out of your volunteer experience.
We have a range of volunteering opportunities across Scotland.
