Child Protection in Sport: Introduction

Thousands of children take part in sport in Scotland every day. For children sport is about having fun, making friends and getting fit!

Unfortunately some sports have had problems with adults who use sport to harm children.

The Child Protection in Sport Development Worker, in partnership with sportscotland, will help sporting organisations put safeguards in place to help protect children taking part in sport and the coaches and volunteers who work with them.

What can sporting organisations do?

  • Introduce guidelines for working with children in sport
  • Make sure that everyone is aware of the guidelines
  • Let everyone know who to contact if they are worried or concerned
