The Great River Ness Raft and Duck Race

EVENT DATE CHANGED - click here for more information

The annual River Ness Raft Race is one of Inverness City's most colourful events. Teams of four are invited to build their own rafts and race them down the River Ness.

The races are divided into two categories: commercial and club. All entrants are encouraged to decorate their rafts and there is a prize for the most original and humorous entry. The best decorated rafts then form a procession around the City Centre and back to the River Ness for the start of the races.

The races start at the Fisherman's Carpark beside the Bught Park and race down river to the finish which is at the Greig Street pedestrian bridge. Rafts are taken out of the river at Friars Shott, near the Waterfront Bar. The Waterfront very kindly offer soup and sandwiches to all competitors.

The last raft race is followed by the popular Duck Race sponsored by the People's Postcode Lottery, with prizes generously donated by Lifescan Scotland. Tickets for the numbered plastic ducks can be bought for £1 each from CHILDREN 1ST (see contact phone number below).

Our ducks are highly trained and very competitive!
