New Year - New Sporting Resources!

Friday 9 January 2009

With getting fit on everyone's minds, the New Year brings new resources from our Child Protection in Sport service.

Run jointly with Scotland's national agency for sport, sportscotland, the national service has developed a range of new resources in response to demand from sporting organisations and national governing bodies of sport.

The resources are designed to help keep children safe and outline what to do should a child protection concern arise. There is also a toolkit giving clubs ideas on how to find out the views of the children they work with and how to engage them in activities and decision making.

The resources include:

  • Disciplinary Issues Relating to a Child Protection Concern
  • Reviewing the Management of a Child Protection Concern
  • Assessing Risk
  • Participation (How to involve children and young people in running a club or group).

They can be accessed here www.childprotectioninsport.org.uk/cpisresources.html

A new A3 poster has also been developed for use by clubs and sporting organisations to help keep everyone informed about their work on child protection.

The poster contains information about who children can contact if they have any concerns, and has space for the sports club or organisation to customise the content.

The poster can be found here www.childprotectioninsport.org.uk/publications_factsheets.html
