The 125 Event for 14 to 18 year olds

27/05/2009

CHILDREN 1ST is organising The 125 Event on 23rd September at The Hub, Edinburgh.

2009 marks the 125th anniversary of CHILDREN 1ST, founded in 1884 as the RSSPCC. This marked the beginnings of children's welfare and rights being given the same importance as those of adults. To recognise these events, we would like 125 young people to participate in a special conference and awareness raising activities.

Participants will:

  • build a picture of what is happening for young people in Scotland now
  • use their voices to influence and shape the future for Scotland's children
  • provide a thought provoking vision for the future
  • issue a call to action to politicians, heads of policy and decision-makers.

We would also like to select a media team of up to 10 participants who are able to commit additional time to the project. Those wishing to be considered for the team should meet all of the above criteria as well as being:

  • keen to have your voice heard
  • eager to develop new skills in interviewing people, teamwork, planning and video production
  • able to commit to a five day media training and production course from 20th July to 24th July in Edinburgh
  • able to travel unaccompanied to Edinburgh and have suitable
  • accommodation for the duration of the course, if required.
