Sunday Funday success in Aberdeen
Thursday 3 September 2009
Aberdeen's Duthie Park didn't know what hit it on Sunday 16th August when the second annual CHILDREN 1ST Sunday Funday rolled in!
Following some kind assistance from Aberdeen Grammar Rugby Club with loading and setting up the gazebos and the Aberdeen Office's numerous prayers to the sun gods being answered in the nick of time, the fun kicked off at 12 noon.
The park was soon full to bursting with huge inflatables, stalls and - most importantly - happy families. Original 106 FM provided the soundtrack for the day, interrupted only for spectacular performances by M.C. and his Hiphop School.
Throughout the afternoon Grampian Fire and Rescue Service gave demonstrations on how NOT to extinguish a chip-pan fire and handed out eco-friendly fire safety bags while the Police and Coastguard were also on hand to give children a great chance to see their vehicles close-up (and press the all-important siren button!).
The wonderful Big Bang lived up to their name with their energetic drumming performances while local storytellers Sheena Blackhall and Grace Banks thrilled young and old alike with stories and songs in the sunshine.
Further support from Apardion, Sainsbury's and First Bus made the Sunday Funday the perfect way to round off the school holidays.
