What parents are saying on alcohol
Thursday 3 June 2010
A new Snapshot briefing from ParentLine Scotland provides insight into parent and carers’ main concerns around alcohol, and the impact that it has upon their families.
Over the past year (2009) 5% of calls to ParentLine Scotland, the free national and confidential helpline for parents and carers, have been around the impacts of alcohol. Sometimes parents have been concerned about their teenager’s drinking habits, whilst many calls are about the effect on a child of their parent drinking.
Jill Cook, manager of ParentLine Scotland, a service delivered by CHILDREN 1ST, said "ParentLine Scotland has a unique insight into parents’ concerns and perspectives on a whole range of issues, including alcohol."
"We urge anyone involved in decision-making that affects families to read this Snapshot briefing to ensure that policy and practice can be the best match for what parents need. By helping with parents’ concerns, you can help them to do the best for their children."
