Big Prizes at the People’s Postcode Lottery

26/07/2010

Summer RolloverSummer officially arrived in East Edinburgh as residents in the Duddingston, Joppa and Jewel area of the city celebrated winning a huge £2.2 million prize pot.

The fortune, shared by People’s Postcode Lottery players in the EH15 3 postcode area, saw hundreds of locals and ecstatic winners gather in the capital’s Jewel Park to celebrate the win.

X Factor favourite Stacey Solomon caused huge excitement when she took to the stage to perform an exclusive live set, but it was the revelation that two neighbours were to share over £800,000 between them that really stole the show.

Appearances by Miss Scotland, Nicola Mimnagh, and local Edinburgh songstress Carrie Mac gave the bash a star-studded appeal, with Stacey’s performance the icing on the celebrity cake.

To date over £5.8 million has been raised by the People’s Postcode Lottery for charities in Scotland. As one of the original charity partners of the People’s Postcode Lottery in Scotland, CHILDREN 1ST has benefited enormously from this innovative fundraising partnership. Since the Lottery’s launch in November 2007, the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery have raised over £1.2 million for CHILDREN 1ST.

The day also proved a fantastic opportunity to spread the word about CHILDREN 1ST. Representatives from ParentLine and CHILDREN 1ST were there to speak to the public about the important work we do in Edinburgh and beyond. Our mini-representative, Jamie Anderson, even took pride of place in the group charity photo!

So we want to offer congratulations to all of Saturday’s winners. More importantly, we want to say thank you to all of the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery for helping to raise funds for Scotland’s vulnerable children and families.
