Kilts for Kids Day 2009 enjoys great success
Thursday 12 August 2010
Last year saw over 350 schools and 260 businesses sign up and take part in Kilts for Kids Day - with everyone’s help and support Kilts for Kids Day has now raised £175,000 for CHILDREN 1ST since it began in 2008.
There were many great examples of how businesses and schools did it too. BHS staff in Cameron Toll Edinburgh wore tartan pyjamas and offered customers the chance to hook-a-duck for a Kilt for Kids Day donation. The area manager even visited some Scottish stores wearing a kilt in honour of the fundraising celebrations. Last year, Milngavie Primary School raised £502 by organising Scottish-themed raffles and competitions, running a Tartan Tuck Shop and coming to school in tartan attire.
Anne Houston, chief executive, CHILDREN 1ST said: “It was great to see so many people get involved and making last year such a success. Not only did people put their imaginations and creativity to great use in putting on some fun activities and events, but they raised lots of money for the charity.
“These valuable funds have helped CHILDREN 1ST to provide life changing support to Scotland’s vulnerable children and families.”
“I hope all these schools and businesses support us again this year so that Kilts for Kids Day can be even bigger and better.”
