Final Speakers - Conference 'Violence against Children'

CHILDREN 1ST now have all the speakers confirmed for the conference ‘Violence against Children; have we had enough yet?  Exploring causes, impact and prevention of all forms of violence’ which is to be held at the Grand Central Hotel, Glasgow on Wednesday 29 September.

Professor Kathleen Marshall, former Scotland’s commissioner for children and young people will examine a child’s right to protection and Dr Suzanne Zeedyk will give some insight into the impact of violence on children.

Anthoulla Koutsoudi of the Wave Trust will discuss tackling the root causes of violence whilst Gina Nowak of No Knives, Better Lives will explore what has worked so far around young people and knife crime and Detective Chief Superintendent John Carnochan will give his units unique perspective on violence in Scotland.

In addition, we will hear from children and young people and parents through feedback from our helplines ParentLine Scotland and ChildLine in Scotland and from our LetsBSafe 2 service which works with youngsters affected by domestic violence.

This conference will be of interest to a wide range of practitioners, managers and other professionals across all organisations who work in the fields of violence reduction, early years and family support. This includes those from health, social care, education, police, youth justice, community safety, voluntary sector, academics, policy makers and anyone with an interest in this area.
