Christmas Appeal with the Scotsman

Wednesday 8 December 2010

CHILDREN 1ST has been selected by the Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday to be the charity of choice for their Christmas Appeal. It is hoped that the appeal will raise much-needed funds for the charity which will, in turn, benefit the lives of Scotland’s most vulnerable children and families.

The appeal was launched on Wednesday 8 December featuring a family from East Lothian who are involved with our Young Persons Outreach Project and our ‘bfriends’ service. Several more of our services will be featured during the appeal including our Chill Out Zone in Bathgate, ParentLine Scotland and one of our Abuse and Recovery services.

Mafe Marwick, Director of Fundraising & Communications for CHILDREN 1ST, said:

"This appeal helps CHILDREN 1ST raise vital funds to continue our much needed work with vulnerable children and their families. Without the generosity of the public we simply would not exist. It has been a particularly tough year for us and the children and families that use our services due to the downturn in the economy and we need the support of the public now more than ever."

"Over the course of the appeal you will be introduced to some of our services and people we have helped through our work. Their stories are ones of struggle but also of hope and resilience. Some of them are parents who identified that they needed help and we've worked with them to improve the lives of the children in their care. Some of them are young people who needed support to overcome abuse or who have been struggling with issues such as self-harm. Their stories are really just the tip of the iceberg, with cases such as theirs echoed throughout Scotland."

"By donating to CHILDREN 1ST you will be making a huge difference to the lives of the children and young people you will get to know in these pages as well as many others that need our support. Thank you."
