Sports quiz nets £60,000
Tuesday 24 June 2008
The third annual Microsoft Scotland and CHILDREN 1ST Corporate Quiz Night, which took place at Celtic Park, has raised an amazing £60,000.
Over 200 guests were put through their paces with questions on the theme of Olympic Sports by comedian and radio personality, Fred MacAulay. The questions ranged from the sublime to the ridiculous, with many proving more than a challenge for the experienced quizzers!
As well as the quiz, an auction, hosted by after dinner speaker and auctioneer, Willie Allan, offered the chance to bid on a wide variety of exciting lots, including golf sessions, signed football jerseys, top of the range laptops and luxury dinners, while the half-time curry replenished strained brain cells!
It was a hard fought contest, but there could only be one winner, and API Software emerged as the champion quizzers; walking away with this year's shield, plus free dinner and drinks at the Jam House in Edinburgh. The runners up were last year's winners, the Press Team, followed by Microsoft's Public Sector Team in third place.
CHILDREN 1ST fundraiser, Lianne Fyfe, said: "We are incredibly grateful to Microsoft Scotland for their continued and generous support of our work. Their contribution will make a huge difference to the children and families we work with."
