National Helplines
Free helpline for children and young people
Children and young people can speak to ChildLine (0800 1111) confidentially and without fear of judgment. In Scotland, the ChildLine service is delivered by CHILDREN 1ST on behalf of the NSPCC. All funds raised for ChildLine in Scotland are raised by the NSPCC.
Free helpline for parents
We believe that all families should be able to access support before things reach crisis point. Our free helpline ParentLine Scotland (0800 028 2233) is an invaluable resource for parents who tell us that being able to talk to someone and get things off their chest makes them feel better and more able to cope.
CHILDREN 1ST and ParentLine Scotland have received funding from the Scottish Government to provide a national training and support service for kinship carers. A priority service is available to any kinship carer as well as additional short-term support.
We are asking kinship carers about their experiences and needs to help inform the development of the new national service for kinship care families. This survey aims to find out more about the sort of support kinship carers want and need.
You can take part in the survey online here or to get paper copies or alternative formats, contact the CHILDREN 1ST policy team at policy@children1st.org.uk or by calling 0131 446 3979. If you work or have contact with anyone caring for a child because their parents are no longer able to do so, please encourage them to take part. Thank you.
