Highland Kinship Care Service
The ties that bind families together are strong.
And often, when relatives are aware that a child in the family is at risk of being taken into care, or that their parents are struggling to look after them, they will step in and offer to help.
The Highland Kinship Care Service will support the needs of kinship carers living in Inverness who are looking after children and young people who have been placed with them on a permanent basis through a local authority supervision requirement.
The service offers advice, guidance and emotional support to kinship carers and the children and young people who have been placed permanently with them. This includes supporting the emerging needs of kinship care families through a range of services including: the development of a support network for children and young people; universal and targeted group programme for the carers; provision of a welcome pack and survival guide for prospective and current carers; developing a carers support.
