Killen Abuse Recovery Service

“There are not enough words in any language that can express our gratitude for everything you have done for our son. We’ve got our happy boy back.” A Mum

We believe that childhood abuse should not be allowed to cloud the rest of a child's life.

Our local services help children to heal and their families to recover from abusive experiences. From our Killen Centre based in the Black Isle, Ross-shire we provide a therapeutic service for children, young people and their families to help them recover from the effects of childhood abuse and neglect.

It is important that staff and volunteers working with families who have suffered from abuse have a good understanding of how it affects lives, which is why staff also provide consultancy and training to both voluntary and statutory organisations.

For people who turn to self harm as a way of coping with their trauma, we work with them to develop healthy and safe ways of controlling their feelings.

We can also offer residential stays at Killen Cottage in the grounds of the centre. This gives us the chance to work intensely with a child or young person and their family, and provide a service to more distant areas, including the Isle of Skye.

Referrals can be made by children, young people or their families or carers, as well as by other agencies or professionals.
