How ParentLine Scotland is run

What about confidentiality?

ParentLine Scotland is a confidential service. We don't pass on information to anyone unless you agree, or a child is in danger or at risk of serious harm. Your telephone number does not show up and you do not have to give your name or address. Just tell us as much about yourself as you're comfortable with. Sometimes for reasons of quality control, a supervisor will listen to calls.

Become a volunteer calltaker

Since it was launched in 1999, ParentLine Scotland has been run by fully trained, committed volunteers. Without their support, there would be no service.

Our volunteers are trained to a high standard and the training is recognised by COSCA, the national body for counselling and psychotherapy in Scotland. Volunteer calltakers complete over 40 hours of introductory training. They are asked to commit to a weekly shift 'on-line'. Regular supervision and ongoing training is provided.

If you are interested in becoming a ParentLine Scotland volunteer, please call 0131 446 2300.
