Take on the #TwoPointSixChallenge and be a home hero for children across Scotland

The coronavirus pandemic has had a catastrophic effect on charities with the cancellation of thousands of events and the loss of billions in income through fundraising events.

We are experiencing a sharp increase in demand across all our services. We need funds now in order to meet this increase in need for families throughout Scotland. That's why we're asking you to be a home hero and take part in the #TwoPointSixChallenge

Can you be an Olympian for 26 minutes?

Olympian Keri-anne Payne's 2.6 Challenge for Children 1st brought together 26 of her Olympian friends for the ultimate 2.6 challenge!

On Sunday 26th April Keri-anne, David Carry, Tom Daley, Rebecca Adlington, Greg Rutherford and many more shared their one minute workouts as part of the #26OlympiansChallenge

You can also set up your own fundraising page below and get sponsored for your workout, or come up with your own #twopointsixchallenge to support children and families across Scotland.

 

Anyone can take on the challenge

All you need to do is dream up an activity based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 that suits your skills and complete it on Sunday April 26 – when the 40th London Marathon would have taken place.

This could be something as simple as pledging to run or ride 2.6 miles as your daily exercise, holding the plank for 2.6 minutes, or gardening for 26 minutes.

You can do it at home

The #TwoPointSixChallenge is your chance to be a home hero and raise funds from your very own living room, bedroom, balcony or garden! Every person who signs up to be a home hero and raises funds for Children 1st helps make sure we can be here for families who need us now more than ever.

Every penny raised supports families across Scotland to stay safe and happy.

The #TwoPointSixChallenge has no rules – apart from the Government guidelines on how to exercise safely during this time. The main thing is to get active, have fun, and pledge whatever you can to help or fundraise to save the UK’s charities.

Once you've decided on your 2.6 challenge it's time to start fundraising!

 Once you've set up your fundraising page there are 3 things to do:

  1. Send the link to all your friends and family and ask them to sponsor you. 
  2. Share with us what you’re doing. Send us pictures and videos of your preparation and challenge. If you share on social media make sure you tag @children1st so we can see.
  3. Then all that's left to do is complete your 2.6 challenge!

Virgin Money Giving have created a pack of 26 fun ideas for brilliant families taking on the 2.6 challenge - with suggestions like making your own escape room, forming a band and lots more!

Ten year old Patrick from Clydebank has challenged himself to do 26 keepy uppies on the 26th April to fundraise for Children 1st as part of the #TwoPointSixChallenge:

"It’s really hard to try and do 26 in one go. I’ve only managed 12 so far so this is tough. 

"My school have used Kitbag before with Children 1st and I love it. I know they are helping children all over Scotland, I want to help them do that."
