Often, when parents are struggling or unable to look after their children, relatives or family friends will step in and offer to help. Kinship care is rewarding but can bring a host of challenges to both the carer and the child.
Children 1st offers support, information and advice to kinship carers, so they are better equipped to meet the needs of the children and young people in their care.
Our Kinship Care hubs offer emotional and practical support for kinship families in Ayrshire, East Lothian and Highland as well as intensive therapeutic support to address loss, harm and trauma.
Anyone who cares for a child, whether parents, relatives or carers can also speak to our ParentLine service for advice, support or information. Please contact us on:
