Champion Dragons feast tonight on stovies and stories

Dundee firm Thornton’s Law, winners of the 2014-15 Dragons’ Glen fundraising challenge for business, met and enjoyed stovies with children, parents and carers who have benefited from their efforts at Children 1st's Dundee base.

Stovies night

Thornton’s Law was presented with the Dragons’ Glen overall winner award at a special ceremony in Edinburgh Castle in April, having beaten off competition that included teams from firms SSE, EnerMech and LifeScan. Their idea – creating and selling sustainable jute shopping bags – raised in excess of £7000 which will help support children and families through difficult times, in Dundee and across Scotland.

Scott Milne, Joint Managing Partner at Thornton’s Law said: “The sad truth is that there are children and families in Dundee living in poverty and isolation, and with the consequences of family breakdown, abuse or neglect. Seeing how Children 1st makes a difference for them will boost our determination as we gear up for the 2015-16 Dragons’ Glen challenge.”

Children 1st local manager Anita Roweth said: “We’re thrilled to share stories and stovies with our Dragons’ Glen champions and other supporters of Children 1st and delighted that representatives from Thorntons and the RJ Larg Family Trust have braved the weather to come to our event.

“Thanks to their efforts, and those of fundraisers across Dundee and Scotland, we can help ensure every child has the happy, healthy, safe and secure childhood that they deserve.”
