Glasgow schoolgirl designs thank you postcard for Children 1st volunteers

To celebrate Volunteers’ Week this year, Children 1st asked some of Scotland’s children to design a special ‘Thank You’ postcard. Last year, nearly 700 people volunteered in a variety of roles with Children 1st, including family support, fundraising and answering calls to the national helpline ParentLine.

Alison Todd, Chief Executive, had a special message for all our volunteers:

“Thank you for volunteering with Children 1st! Our volunteers are vital to our work and enable us to reach more children and young people across Scotland. Without you we couldn’t give so many of Scotland’s children reasons to smile.”

Volunteers’ Week is a national celebration of volunteering, which has been extended this year in celebration of Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday. It runs from 1 to 12 June, and events are occurring across the country to celebrate the contribution of volunteers.

Primary 5 pupils from Scotstoun Primary School designed postcards, and the winning design by Martha Davidson was chosen by players from Glasgow Warriors Rugby club. The players Alex Allan and Rory Hughes presented a certificate and prize to Martha, whose design will be sent as a postcard to all our volunteers in Volunteers’ Week.
