The Big Give Christmas Challenge – double your donations

We’re delighted to announce that you can make double the difference to children and families in desperate need across Scotland next week - as all donations will be match funded as part of The Big Give Christmas Challenge.

Starting a week today - from Tuesday 1st December until Tuesday 8th December – every penny donated to Children 1st via The Big Give will be doubled.
Now more than ever, we need your support to continue to give children and families across Scotland emotional, financial and practical support to help them to feel strong, put food on their table, keep a roof over their heads and keep children learning during this terrible pandemic.

Mum Angela, who has been supported by Children 1st Parentline, said the support she received got her through a very dark and difficult time in her family’s life.
She said: “I was in a pretty dark place at the time. I was very upset, I couldn’t really support my kids as well as I should be with their issues and I needed some external help. So I googled and phoned Children 1st Parentline. When I needed help most – my kids – I wouldn’t say they were suffering, I couldn’t give them the best support that I should have been because I didn’t know how to handle it – I didn’t know how to help them.”

Angela said Children 1st Parentline was a complete lifeline.
She added: “Having Children 1st Parentline at the end of the phone was just invaluable and certainly my kids now have seen a difference in the way I approached their issues which are probably not going to go away any time soon but at least I know I can deal with them and they know that I’m going to be there for them regardless.”

In the run up to Christmas, your support through the Big Give, will help more families like Angela’s before they reach breaking point.
This year alone, more than 38,000 children in Scotland will suffer abuse and 1 in 4 (260,000) live in poverty. Families are living with increasing stress caused by poverty, poor mental health, alcohol or drug misuse, loss or conflict - and often a combination of them.

But thanks to your support, our local services across the country, will continue to provide money advice, emotional and wellbeing support and practical help so that all children, whatever their family faces, can enjoy a happy, safe Christmas at home.

If you’ve been fundraising for Children 1st recently and you would like to double your donation go to our Big Give fundraising page from 12pm on the 1st of December.
