Hannah’s story

Hannah was 8 when her mum attempted suicide.

Hannah loved her mum and couldn’t understand what was happening. She felt so alone.

Hannah’s mum was suffering with mental health problems and things had just got too much. Claire at Children 1st helped Hannah and her mum to talk about their feelings and re-connect with each other.

Everything Hannah had been through meant she was having trouble sleeping, couldn’t concentrate at school and felt completely lost. She felt her friends didn’t understand and she missed inviting them round to her house.

Claire helped Hannah to find ways to cope and relax. Now, Hannah and her mum are looking forward to time together and they’re starting to think about the future, something that Hannah’s mum couldn’t bear to think about before.
