Joy's story

Many families are facing extra stress and challenges trying to cope through the coronavirus crisis. We are continuing to be here for families, providing the practical and emotional support families need.

Joy’s Mum felt so much stress after being laid off by her work because of coronavirus, that she suffered a stroke. The hospital told Joy’s Mum that she wasn’t safe to drive. The pressure of not knowing how they would manage to get food or pay for it during lockdown meant the tension at home was becoming unbearable.

Through this incredibly difficult time, Ann from Children 1st is continuing to be there to help Joy and her family cope through coronavirus. Ann is delivering food, so that Joy and her Mum can continue to see her in person and have a quick chat from a safe distance.

Ann is also on the phone to them every couple of days, providing practical support to help sort their benefits and emotional support to help them manage the tensions they all feel.

We are here to support every family in Scotland to cope through coronavirus, and into the future. Whatever is affecting your family, you can talk to us. Parentline is here for you every day of the week - over the phone and online.
