At some time all parents find that parenting can be difficult, stressful, even impossible. ParentLine Scotland is the free, confidential, telephone helpline for anyone caring for a child in Scotland. You can call about any problem, however big or small.
At ParentLine Scotland, we don't tell parents what to do or how to bring up their children. We listen and help callers express their feelings, and we offer support, information and advice.
Many callers phone when they are at the end of their tether, but you don't have to leave it till a situation nears crisis point. Often just talking things through can be a big help.
what do people call about?

Since our launch in 1999 we have had over 85,000 calls to the helpline. We found that the most common concerns are:
The relationship between parents and teenagers
Separation and divorce
Bullying
Family relationships
Child abuse.

We are also delighted to be able to offer Scotland's first postnatal depression telephone helpline "Bluebell at ParentLine Scotland". The initiative is a joint venture between CHILDREN 1ST and CrossReach, the social care arm of the Church of Scotland.
All calls are answered by specially trained volunteers, and for the first time a Scotland-wide support service is available for anyone affected by
postnatal depression. The helpline number is 0800 345 7457. You can view our factsheet on postnatal depression below. |
