Can you support children’s football dreams in East Lothian?
Donate to our latest Crowdfunder and help more children in East Lothian grow their skills and confidence, by taking part in Children 1st’s Impact Football initiative.
With your help Impact Football can support over 20 children and families facing challenges with anxiety, confidence, at school, or whose families face financial hardship to develop their skills for football, and for life through different football-based drills, exercise and physical activity which encourages communication and teamwork skills.
After a successful pilot, that welcomed over 20 children aged between five and twelve, Children 1st need to raise £2,610 to fund a new eight-week term of free, Impact Football sessions starting in September 2021.
Children who have taken part in the pilot have shown clear and lasting improvements to their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing, and increased self-confidence.
This summer thousands of children across Scotland will be dreaming of becoming a future football star, as they watch the Euros. But, with more than one in four children in East Lothian currently living in poverty many children miss out on the chance of even dreaming about becoming a member of the national team because of financial hardship, mental health or other challenges.
One parent whose child took part in the Impact Football pilot said: “Calum* had lots of fun playing football; he felt more confident, made some new friends and felt happier at home after playing football.”
Kath Muirhead, Team Leader, Children 1st East Lothian said:
“Seeing the children come along to enjoy and thrive during the football sessions was amazing. Normally they wouldn’t have the chance to take part in organised sporting activity but with all of us on their side, we can grow their skills, encourage their confidence and help bring their dreams alive.”
To bring this football dream alive for children in East Lothian, please donate what you can.
